Your DiSC® Questions Answered

What exactly is DiSC®?

If you are looking to create more positive, productive communication in your workplace, eliminating the drama that results in poor performance, this one-day DiSC training program is for you! DiSC Profiles and Assessments provide participants with an in-depth understanding of behavioral style tendencies, both individual and those of others. During the one-day training program, participants learn to work with their own behavioral style, as well as to understand others, to create a more productive environment and better results in the workplace. How can DiSC® training help our organization?

The basis of DiSC® training is to help individuals understand their behavioral styles, so they can adapt their communication style. Once employees learn more productive communication, you will see better understanding, more teamwork, improved performance and goal attainment in the workplace.

What areas of my organization could benefit from DiSC® training?

DiSC® behavioral training works well with most segments of an organization, but is particularly well suited for sales training, management training, executive leadership training and HR Coaching.

Are people expected to change their behavior?

Participants in the DiSC® program focus on understanding their strengths and potential limitations, rather than changing their individual behaviors. The focus is on learning how best to adapt their individual behavioral style to make themselves more effective in the workplace.

How reliable is the DiSC® assessment over time?

The DiSC® assessment is an accurate picture for the focus (work or home) and the environment (current situation) at the time the training takes place, and would not likely change much in the future, given the parameters remain the same. If either of the parameters (focus or environment) change in the future, the results could be different.

How does the DiSC® model differ from others?

The DiSC® model stresses that there is no "right" behavior, and participants may learn that they use all four dimensions in varying degrees. The DiSC® training helps participants adapt their communication style to best use the behavioral tendencies they discovered with the DiSC® Program.

Who created the DiSC® Assessment?

Over the last 30 years the DiSC® model has helped over 40 million people in 20+ languages. The DiSC®concept was originally created by Dr. William Marston, Harvard University, and researched and updated by Dr. John Geier at the University of Minnesota. Inscape Publishing Company, formerly Carlson Learning and Performax, now distributes DiSC® and several other assessment instruments.

Are there legal issues concerning the use of DiSC® for applicant screening or hiring purposes?

Inscape does not authorize the sale of its products for use as tools to predict success in employment or in particular job classifications. Employment practices are subject to laws that vary in different locations, and are likely to change from time to time. Inscape encourages its customers to seek legal advice if questions exist about employment practices and procedures.
